Gavin
Walker was appointed to the post of Pipe Major of The House of Edgar
Shotts & Dykehead Pipe Band in August, 2010 following the announcement
of Pipe Major Robert Mathieson's retirement from the position.
Gavin
comes from a family background steeped in the piping tradition, with
himself and his two brothers all experienced Grade 1 pipers. He is an
accomplished soloist and has a number of prizes to his name.
In pipe
band terms, Gavin joined the Shotts & Dykehead band in 2010 from
Strathclyde Police Pipe Band, where he played for some 15 years, 3 years
of which he served as the band's Pipe Sergeant.
A well
liked and respected gentleman and admired by the band's membership for
his professionalism, Gavin was the natural choice as their new Pipe
Major.
